Artist #1: Danae Valenza
Danae Valenza's Colour Piano for Chromatic Portraits
Featured in ACCA's exhibition, 'new '14', colour piano for chromatic portraits is a beautiful installation piece. Danae Valenza is an artist as well as a musician. Valenza has created a spectacular interactive installation featuring a coloured piano with 88 keys rigged up to 88 hand-painted light-bulbs. Every day a pianist took on the role of playing songs on the piano, which also becomes a light display. This work drew on Valenza's idea that she wanted to capture a song in a picture.herald sun
Valenza has used colour theory in her work to assign each key out of 88 a specific colour before hand painting the light-bulb that is connected to that particular key, suspended from the ceiling.
